8th Congress of KCU Held in Presence of Kim Jong Un

The 8th Congress of the Korean Children’s Union (KCU) took place with splendor at the April 25 House of Culture on Tuesday.

Attending the congress were exemplary delegates selected from KCU organizations across the country.

Present there on invitation were officials in charge of schoolchildren’s life and officials concerned of education for school youth and children.

Respected Marshal Kim Jong Un appeared on the tribune of honor of the congress hall together with delegates.

A KCU member put a red tie around his neck.

KCU delegates presented a floral basket to him.

He congratulated the enthusiastically cheering delegates and extended warm greetings to them.

Taking the tribune of honor were Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, Choe Thae Bok, member of the Political Bureau and vice-chairman of the C.C., WPK, Ri Il Hwan, department director of the C.C., WPK, Kim Sung Du, chairman of the Education Commission, officials of the youth league and officials concerned and KCU delegates who set an example in study and organizational life.

The following agenda items were put up for discussion:

1. On fully preparing KCU members to be able revolutionary talents equipped with knowledge, morality and strong physique and children revolutionaries, remaining boundlessly faithful to respected Marshal Kim Jong In

2. On revision of the KCU rules

Jon Yong Nam, first secretary of the Central Committee of the youth league, made a report on the first agenda item.

He said the victorious and glorious course of the KCU is associated with the deep loving care of the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who brought up the KCU members to be true sons and daughters faithful to the party and the country.

In the past four years since the 7th Congress of the KCU its organizations have achieved successes in the drive to carry out the important tasks set forth by Kim Jong Un in his congratulatory speech at the joint national meeting of the KCU organizations held in celebration of the 66th anniversary of its founding and his instructions for strengthening the KCU work, the reporter noted.

He called upon all the KCU members to grow up to be pillars of prosperous Korea remaining boundlessly loyal to Marshal Kim Jong Un, flying the immortal flags of smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il before the KCU flag.

Speeches were made at the congress.

The speakers expressed their resolutions to prepare themselves to be true children revolutionaries steadfastly carrying on the march toward Mt Paektu by doing well study, organizational life, socio-political activities and good-conduct movement, bearing in mind their honor and pleasure of taking part in the 8th Congress of the KCU in the presence of Kim Jong Un.

Kim Jong Un heard with keen interest the speeches of delegates, warmly applauding them.

A decision on the first agenda item was adopted.

The second agenda item was discussed and decided.

Kim Jong Un made a speech at the congress.
