Agricultural Workers Pledge to Reap Bumper Crop

Agricultural workers and members of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea met at the plaza in front of the statue of President Kim Il Sung in Chongsan-ri, Kangso District, on February 18 to vow to implement to the letter the first year’s task under the new five-year plan set forth at the 8th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Present at the meeting were Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Choe Yong, secretary of the Nampho City Committee of the WPK, officials concerned, officials of the UAWK and agricultural workers and members of the UAWK in Kangso District.

Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the UAWK Central Committee, delivered a speech at the meeting.

The report made by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un at the 2nd Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee is a programmatic document filled with the spirit of absolute and unconditional devoted service to the people and a high degree of revolutionary and enterprising spirit, and a militant banner which inspires the entire Party and all the people to the effort to implement to the letter the decisions of the Party Congress, the speaker stressed.

He called upon all the agricultural workers to fully discharge their responsibility and duty in the farming campaign of the first year under the five-year plan and thus carry out the important tasks advanced at the plenary meeting.

Then, oath-taking speeches were made.

The speakers pledged to uphold the Party and defend socialism with increased grain production, bearing in mind the plan and intention of the Party Central Committee to bring about a practical turn and substantial advance from the first year of the new five-year plan.

A letter of pledge to Kim Jong Un was adopted at the meeting.
