A small film show took place in the Chollima Film Studio in Ryusongdong on Thursday, 7 May to mark the 70th anniversary of Russia’s victory, with the other Allied Powers, in the Great Patriotic War.

As a suburb of Pyongyang, Ryusongdong’s massive Chollima Film Studio has been the prime location of previous film festivals in the past, both large and small in size.

Present there were Kim Jin Bom, Official Chairman of the DPRK-Russia Friendship Association and vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries, officials concerned and working people in Pyongyang, Russian Ambassador to the DPRK Alexandr Matsegora and staff members of his embassy and other Russian guests staying in the DPRK. Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly Presidium, Kim Yong Nam, was also present for the film festival before leaving for Moscow on the afternoon of 7 May.

The participants watched a Soviet feature film, and officials gathered an entourage afterward to host the Russian guests during their two week-long stay in Pyongyang.
