Grand Mass Gymnastics and Artistic Performance Opens

The grand gymnastics and artistic performance “The Land of the People” was held with due ceremony at the May Day Stadium on Monday.

Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers’ Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, enjoyed the grand gymnastics and artistic performance.

The Supreme Leader of the Party, the State and the armed forces appeared at the auditorium together with his wife Ri Sol Ju.

The Supreme Leader waved back to the enthusiastically cheering masses for a long time.

Enjoying the performance were Ri Man Gon, Pak Kwang Ho, Ri Su Yong, Kim Phyong Hae, Choe Hwi, An Jong Su, Pak Thae Song, Kim Yong Chol, Jo Yong Won, Kim Yo Jong, Ri Yong Sik, Hyon Song Wol, Kwon Hyok Bong, Jang Ryong Sik, Pak Chun Nam and other leading officials of the Party and government and Pyongyang citizens.

Also enjoying it were overseas compatriots and foreign guests staying here.

Pak Chun Nam, minister of Culture, made an opening address.

The performance began with the title of “The Land of the People” shining in the nocturnal sky above the capital city.

The performers showed beautiful and graceful rhythmic movements, high-spirited gymnastics, interesting national emotion and rich artistic depiction and large kaleidoscopic background stand.

At the end of the performance all the performers and the audience broke into cheers of “hurrah!” again, looking up to the Supreme Leader, and fireworks were displayed in the nocturnal sky above the capital city.

The Supreme Leader extended his warm greetings to the performers, expressing thanks for their performance.

After the performance he called creators of the performance and seriously criticized them for their wrong spirit of creation and irresponsible work attitude, pointing to the contents and forms of the performance.

Noting that the creators and artistes in the literature and art sector have a very important duty in socialist cultural construction, he set forth important tasks for correctly implementing the revolutionary policy of our Party on literature and art.
