Large quantities of vegetables are produced in the greenhouses of the Mangyongdae Township of Pyongyang City. These are destined to the inhabitants of the municipality in the four seasons of the year.
In the thirteen existing greenhouses, whose surface area reaches one hectare in total, more than 360 tons have been produced this year. This has been possible thanks to the control of temperature and humidity and nutrition according to the conditions of plant growth.
Currently, the cyclical chain production system combined with fish farming is applied and the yield of the crop per hectare is increased by applying methods of cultivation in spaces.
Products such as cucumber, tomato, and squash are grown, and other leafy crops including whole cabbage, cabbage, lettuce, and chives.
Currently it constitutes one of the exemplary units in the production of vegetables in greenhouses on a national scale.
