International Children’s Day Marked in DPRK

A joint friendship meeting was held at the Mangyongdae Amusement Park on June 1 to mark the 64th anniversary of the International Children’s Day.

Present there were Choe Ryong Hae, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the Supreme People’s Assembly, officials concerned, unconverted long-term prisoners and children and women in Pyongyang.

Present there on invitation were diplomatic envoys, staff members of foreign embassies and missions of international bodies here and their children and women and other foreign guests and overseas Koreans staying in the homeland.

Kim Jong Sun, chairwoman of the C.C., the Democratic Women’s Union of Korea, made a congratulatory speech.

Then followed a true story-telling meeting and art performance presented by children.

Put on the stage were such colorful numbers as song and dance “Pleasant Holiday, the Day When the Marshal Came”, kayagum solo “I Am a Flower Bud” and sports dance “Flower Buds of Korea”.

The performers truthfully represented bright and cheerful life of the children growing up stoutly to be happy children of Songun Korea and masters of the future under the warm loving care of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Chorus “Let’s present to Marshal” performed by foreign children and chorus story-telling “Thanks to Marshal Kim Jong Un” by children of Pyongyang Orphanage was acclaimed by the audience.

There took place sports and amusement games.

The optimistic appearance of “children of great strength” competing at the Ssirum (Korean wrestling) ground and children jumping over flower-decorated ropes are fanning up the atmosphere of the meeting.

DPRK and foreign children competed in the running with their hand taken by their mothers with a ball in arms, ball shooting, toy picking and tug of war, sharing the feelings of friendship.

At the end of the games the participants spent a pleasant time, dancing together and using amusement facilities.
