The first leg of his guidance was the vegetable science institute.
He expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the builders expanded the greenhouse capacity and radically increased the production true to the instructions given by leaderKim Jong Ilwhile visiting the institute in March 2011.
He dropped in at the nutritive liquid supply room and computer control room. Watching the vegetable cultivation through an automatic injection of various nutritive liquid, he was pleased that a sure guarantee was made for boosting the vegetable production by establishing a production system based on the latest technology.
At the bio-engineering room he said he was greatly satisfied to learn that everything was put on a scientific basis.
At the experimental plots for research he was pleased to hear that it was conducting researches into more than 50 vegetable species including 20 odd species of tomato sent by himself.
He recollected thatKim Jong Ilinstructed the institute to cultivate a lot of round eggplants, Phyonggang radish, etc. on an experimental basis while visiting it in March last year, adding that he was well versed in vegetables, too.
He stressed the need to cultivate a lot of high-yielding species of tasty and highly nutritive vegetables suited to the climatic and soil conditions of the country so as to supply sufficient quantities of vegetables to the people.
Only when geothermal, solar heat and wind power energy are widely used for heating greenhouses, is it possible to reduce production cost and ensure profitability in operating them, he noted.
It is very nice to go round the vegetable science institute and it looks like a sea of greenhouses, he said, stressing the need for all provinces to build such greenhouses.
He expressed expectation that the scientists and employees of the institute would achieve great successes in researches and production of vegetables before having a photo taken with them.
The next leg of his guidance was the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute built on an expansion basis.
After being briefed on the institute in front of a large map showing its panoramic view, he acquainted himself with researches and production there.
He expressed his great satisfaction over the fact that the institute increased its production capacity more than 20 times than that in the past, making it possible to send lots of flowers to the flower shops.

He underlined the need for the floricultural research field to actively learn from good experience of other countries.
He also called for putting the flower booming on a scientific and industrial basis.
He had a photo taken with the scientists and employees of the institute.
He extended his thanks to the teaching staff and students ofKim Il SungUniversity, soldier builders, scientists and employees for their patriotic devotion to the construction of the Pyongyang Vegetable Science Institute and the Pyongyang Floriculture Institute.
