Kim Jong Un Inspects KPA Air and Anti-Air Force Unit

Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK, inspected KPA Air and Anti-Air Force Unit 991 honored with the title of O Jung Hup-led Seventh Regiment.

He went round the monument to the field guidance provided by leader Kim Jong Il on March 2, 2006 erected to convey his leadership exploits to posterity, looking back on the feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in developing the Juche-oriented air force.

Thanks to their matchless and distinguished ability to command the army and meticulous care the Juche-based air force could fly in the vast sky with loyalty to safeguard the party and revolution only and glorify the proud history of its development as a matchless service of the army strong in idea and morality, he said.

Noting that the Juche-oriented air force is the precious revolutionary legacy left by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, he stressed that the feats performed by them in building the Juche-oriented air force will shine forever.

He learned about the situation of the unit from its commander and praised it for having made flight drills a part of everyday life as intended by the party, exerted sustained efforts to study and round off the Juche-based methods of air battle, trained pilots to be death-defying corps in the sky and able combat airmen capable of successfully performing any combat duty of modern warfare and put aircraft, weapons and combat and technical equipment on regular alert.

 

 

After asking commanding officers about the supply service in the unit and airmen’s living conditions in detail, he underlined the need to pay deep attention to the supply service and their living conditions as the unit is stationed in the far-flung northern end and settle the problems in good time on a priority basis.

Going round the lecture room of the squadron and general lecture room for piloting drill, he acquainted himself in detail with the airmen’s study and flight training.

“If airmen are to be ready to satisfactorily perform their combat missions under any unfavorable circumstances and conditions any time, it is good to let them undergo a lot of training with the help of piloting training equipment”, he said, underlining the need for all of them to study hard methods of taking off and landing on strange airfields and air attack zones and terrain of anti-air defence and acquire well flight methods in bad weather and get fully trained through steady training with the help of seats and apparatuses.

He had a photo session with the airmen of the unit, expressing the expectation and belief that they would continue to decorate the blue sky of the country with heroic feats in the future, too, by carrying forward the shining tradition of the proud unit which produced many airmen of distinguished services including heroes of the Republic under the energetic leadership and warm loving care of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He was accompanied by KPA Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So, director of the General Political Bureau of the KPA, KPA Air Force General Ri Pyong Chol, commander of the KPA Air and Anti-Air Force, Army Col. General So Hong Chan, first vice-minister of the People’s Armed Forces, and Army Col. General Pak Jong Chon, vice-chief of the KPA General Staff and director of its Fire Command Department.
