Kim Jong Un Visits Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery

Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, first chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army, visited the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery to pay tribute to the fallen fighters of the KPA at 10 a.m. on Sunday on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.

After he arrived at the cemetery, the chief of a guard of honor of the Ground, Naval, Air and Anti-Air Forces of the KPA and the Worker-Peasant Red Guards shouted “Present arms!” in the memory of the fallen fighters.

A floral basket in the name of Kim Jong Un was placed before the cemetery.

Also laid before it were floral baskets in the name of the General Staff, General Political Bureau, Ministry of the People’s Armed Forces, the services and corps-level units of the KPA and bunches of flowers.

He together with other visitors paid silent tribute to the fallen fighters.

He went round the cemetery.

He said that the victory in the past Fatherland Liberation War is associated with the heroic exploits performed by the known and unknown martyrs who courageously turned out in the battles to defend the country in hearty response to the order of President Kim Il Sung, underscoring the need to respect the participants in the war as revolutionary forerunners and glorify their revolutionary spirit and feats generation after generation.

He noted that the spirit of defending the country displayed in the period of the great Fatherland Liberation War serves as a valuable mental legacy of the Korean revolution, underlining the need to deeply instill the popular heroism and patriotic spirit displayed by the army and people of the DPRK in the war into the youth and children and people.

He was accompanied by Hwang Pyong So, Ri Yong Gil, Hyon Yong Chol and other commanding officers of the KPA, executive members of the KPA Committee of the WPK and commanding officers of the services and corps-level units of the KPA.
