Korea’s Liberation, Event of Historic Significance

Pyongyang, August 14 (KCNA) — It has been 75 years after Korea was liberated from the Japanese imperialists’ colonial rule on August 15, Juche 34 (1945).

President Kim Il Sung proclaimed a showdown with the vicious Japanese imperialism and led the 20-odd year-long anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle to victory to accomplish the historic cause of national liberation.

This historic event brought an unprecedented change to Korea and the rest of the world.

With the national liberation, the Korean people restored the sovereignty of the nation and could become the masters of new Korea to lead a genuine and happy life. Over the past 75 years, they have built a prosperous socialist state independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence under the guidance of the peerlessly great men.

The victory in the anti-Japanese revolutionary war clearly showed the world that the oppressed popular masses of colonial countries could defeat any imperialist aggression forces when they wage an armed struggle with their own revolutionary force, and opened up a new era of the anti-imperialist national liberation struggle.

In the last century, many nations of Asia and Africa staged armed struggles against the imperialists and achieved the independence of their countries to free themselves from the destiny of colonial slavery. Such developments led the imperialist colonial system on a worldwide scale to total collapse.

The immortal feats of the President who freed the Korean nation from Japan’s colonial rule and set a world-historic example of national liberation struggle will remain forever. -0-
