Natural Monument—Cornels at Pukchong

Four cornels grow at the western foot of a mountain 10 km northwest of Ponggok-ri, Pukchong County, South Hamgyong Province.

It is known that their seeds were planted in around 1934. With a height of 6.5 metres on average, their root collars are 1.5 metres round, and their crowns, 7 metres across from east to west and 5 metres across from north to south.

They bear many fruits and grow well. They are of academic significance as they grow in the northern tip of the country far beyond the natural distribution area of their species and add more beauty to the surrounding scenery.
