Samjiyon Band Gives Performance to Mark International Women’s Day

Pyongyang, March 8 (KCNA) — The Samjiyon Band of the Mansudae Art Troupe gave a performance “Song in Praise of Women in Songun Era” at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on Wednesday, the 107th March 8 International Women’s Day.

Put on the stage of the performance that started with the prelude “Women Are Flowers” were colorful numbers including women quintet “Song of Women”, music “Who Ever Taught Me?” and women sextet “Song of Coast Artillerywomen.”

The performers successfully represented the boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il who pursued the politics of prioritizing and respecting the women in the country and let the Korean women exalt their dignity.

Kayagum solo “Arirang at Jiansanfeng” praised the undying exploits anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk performed by setting an example in devotedly defending Kim Il Sung, true to his revolutionary leadership, and bringing about the rosy future of prospering socialist Korea.

Some numbers praising the Korean women for successfully raising their children as successors to the revolution who would carve out the future of the country revved up the festive mood.

Music “We Art the Happiest in the World” and mixed sextet “The Dear Name Called by People” helped the audience cherish higher pride and honor of having respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un as the father of the great family under socialism.

Among the audience were women officials, women workers and members of the women’s union in Pyongyang.
