Silver Work “A Treasure Ship”

Among the gifts preserved in the International Friendship Exhibition House is a silver work “A Treasure Ship”, which was presented to Chairman Kim Jong Il by a delegation of the International Institute of the Juche Idea in October Juche 80 (1991).

Prior to their re-visit to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea in the run-up to the 46th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the members of the delegation prepared the gift with boundless respect and reverence for the Chairman.

It depicts a peacock-shaped boat with a full cargo of treasures, sailing forward through the waves of the sea.

It showcases delicate workmanship and formative beauty. Inscribed at the bottom are gilded letters “Congratulations on the 46th Founding Anniversary of the WPK”.

The gift was created by a famous handicraftsman who was possessed of traditional Japanese silver workmanship.
